On Friday, 23rd of June 2017, we had the vernissage for our exhibition “Picasso and his women”. After warm greetings from Jürgen A. Messmer to all the invited guests, Dr. Friedhelm Häring made a speech about Pablo Picassos life and works. and everyone was eager to see the works in the kunsthalle messmer. Two Muses of the great artist – Dr. Angela Rosengart and Sylvette David – were invited especially for this occasion and signed books or conversed with the guests.
The exhibition focuses on the women in Pablo Picassos life, how he depicted them in his art and how they influenced him and his style. More than 130 works from private collectors or famous muesums give an unique impression beyond the art of Picasso and give the visitor insight into the works of the woman in Picassos life one has never seen before.
„Picasso und die Frauen“ – you can see this exhibition until the 12th of November!
The exhibition “Picasso and the Women” in the kunsthalle messmer is advertised at the EuroAirport. A 14×7-meter poster at the control tower greets guests from all over the world and invites them to come and see the wonderful works from Picasso and the women in his life.

Herwig will present his newest book at the Galerie M on October 14th at 6pm about Françoise Gilot (born in 1921), French painter and partner of Pablo Picasso:
Die Frau, die Nein sagt – Rebellin, Muse, Malerin – Françoise Gilot über ihr Leben mit und ohne Picasso
For this biography Françoise Gilot gave Malte Herwig exclusive insight into her ateliers in NY and Paris. She explained what counts in life for her and what is really important concerning art and happyness. Gilot kept her independence during ten-year-relationship with Picasso and was the only woman in his life leaving him. The book´s title „Die Frau, die Nein sagt“ is fitting, Pablo Picasso called her that himslef.
