A Swiss Modernist

Evard-hellerDuring the late 70s Jürgen Messmer got to know the work of the swiss artist André Evard (1876-1972), a pioneer-painter of Swiss modernism and college friend of Le Corbusier.
In 1978, he managed to acquire a large part of the painter´s estate. Through Evard the art collector discovered a passion especially for concrete-constructive art as a focus of the collection.
In order to promote this art movement an art prize, doted with  10,000, was dedicated to André Evard. The prize is aimed at contemporary artists and takes place approximately every three years.

In the years 2009 and 2012 Evard-focused exhibitions were held at the Kunsthalle, asides of presentations like these the collection Evard is preserved at the depot.
