Rolf Schneebeli can be described as a rediscovered artist.
The works of the trained graphic artist are derived from halftone printing. Early works were already shown in 1969 on the occasion of the exhibition “Zürcher Künstler / Konkrete und Phantastische Richtungen” at the Helmhaus Zürich, curated by Max Bill. Starting in 2004, he further developed these grids for static or moving images. The fascination of movement makes space an important factor in his works. Through the diversity of his oeuvre of painted pictures, pictures equipped with electric motors, or object boxes that can be rotated by hand, he impressively visualizes the process of dynamizing pictorial space.
